Over the past few years, public and private sector organisations have been exploring the potential of Serious Games and trying to understand how this technology can be successfully utilised within business and education.
If developed and used in the right way, Serious Games have the potential to benefit organisations in a number of ways, for example, increasing capability, helping learners link learning and training to a real world context and also raising productivity, and resulting in a significant ROI.
In the current climate of economic instability, Serious Games can play a vital role in getting through tough times ahead. Organisations will face a balancing act of cutting costs whilst trying to maintain a productive and up-skilled workforce.
The Serious Games Online Jam provides an online collaborative space for those interested in Serious Games to discuss, debate and vote on different topics of Serious Games. Participants will have the opportunity to post discussions, contribute to discussions, learn about the current movements and growth areas, and make connections with other participants.
After the Jam session closes, all participants will receive a summarised analysis of the discussions and will be notified of other Jam sessions throughout 2009 as this will not be a one off. The Serious Game online Jam will run every quarter and the site will remain active in between times, giving participants the opportunity to make connections and provide some insight into the direction of the Jam sessions.
